Dentons boosts Mideast energy practice

Abu Dhabi, December 17, 2013

Dentons, a global leader in energy, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Nash as its partner in the energy practice.

Jon joins from Vinson & Elkins where he was the managing partner of the firm’s Abu Dhabi office. He has been based in the Middle East since 2007 and has practised in the region since the late 1990s.

Jon's practice is focused on international project finance and development transactions in the energy, water, transportation and infrastructure sectors.

He has experience of advising all project participants, including credit providers, underwriters, advisors, sponsors, project joint ventures, insurers, contractors, government agencies, ECAs and multilateral institutions.

While his experience covers projects across the globe including in Europe and Asia, Jon has been increasingly focused on projects in the Mena region since relocating to the Middle East.

Michael Kerr, the managing partner for Dentons’ Middle East region, said: "Dentons maintains its reputation as a global leader in energy, and this hire comes at a time when we continue to see robust project activity throughout the Middle East."

"Jon has a well-established practice in the region, and a first-rate skill set, and his arrival will ensure we stay ahead in this fast evolving market. We are delighted to welcome him to the firm," he added.

Jon said: “Clients have increasingly made it clear that they attach a significant value to a law firm that can offer local law advice in the jurisdictions in which they do business. Dentons has one of the most extensive office networks in Mena. The Abu Dhabi office has been established for over 30 years."

Both these factors and the increasingly global outlook to its service offering through its recent combinations in the US, Canada and Europe made Dentons a compelling choice of platform for me.”

Jon is the latest of a number of lateral hires to Dentons’ Middle East region. Last month the firm announced the arrival of partners Ian Dalley (Construction, Abu Dhabi) and Alex Roussos (Banking and Finance, Dubai).-TradeArabia News Service
