NOCs back operational excellence conference

Abu Dhabi, January 22, 2014

Speakers and delegates from several national oil companies in the region are set to take part at the upcoming Operational Excellence Conference in Abu Dhabi.

The companies include ADMA, Takreer, Borouge, Saudi Aramco, Bapco, Gasco and Kuwait Oil Company.

The conference will be held on January 27 and 28 at the Royal Meridian Hotel.

Joseph Paris Jr, a renowned expert on operational excellence and Founder of the Operational Excellence Society, said: “People talk about ‘operational excellence’, but what does it really mean?

"Its definition and how it can be used for the region’s oil, gas and petrochemical companies to drive their business performance will be addressed at the conference.”

The Operational Excellence Society is dedicated to professionals devoted to the continuous and deliberate improvement of company performance and the circumstances of those who work there – to pursue ‘Operational Excellence by Design’ and not by coincidence.

The group, which now has over 20,000 members, seeks to take the story from ‘cyberspace’ and make it ‘face-to-face’ to ‘make it real’ and to create an actual place where like-minded individuals can connect, learn, and network.

Hannah Capstick, conference director, The Energy Exchange, said: “Key presentations from leaders in operational excellence for the energy sector such as Shell and the contribution from our partners and sponsors including Operational Excellence Society, Takreer, ADMA and Honeywell are certain to add tremendous value for our regional and international delegates eager to learn more about how to improve operational efficiency to drive profits and increase margins.”

The conference will also feature experts from companies at the forefront of operational excellence such as Shell, Gasco, Statoil and Maersk Oil.

The themes of the conference include finding the value of operational excellence, human capital and organisation efficiency, improving asset performance, maintenance and integrity techniques, procurement and contracting as well as technologies for operational excellence.

It will feature specifically designed presentations around the needs of NOCs in the region.

The presentations will include case studies on achieving OE in expansion and new project; insights from some of the IOCs; benchmarks on asset management, human capital, maintenance and integrity and procurement; the importance of applying OE to managing risks and incidents; strategies for integrating a culture for OE; human capital; measuring improvements; and optimising costs and increasing asset value. - TradeArabia News Service
