Samsung Engineering wins Algeria gas project

Seoul, February 17, 2014

Samsung Engineering Co has won the contract to build the Algeria Timimoun Field Development project worth $800 million.

The company signed the contract with Groupement Timimoun (GTIM), a joint venture between Sonatrach, Total and Cepsa today (February 17), said a statement.

The signing ceremony was held in Algiers with the attendance of Samsung Engineering’s president and CEO Choong-Heum Park and Sonatrach’s president and CEO Zerguine Abdelhamid.

The Timimoun Field Development project is located 800 km southwest of Algiers, said the statement.

Samsung Engineering will be responsible for engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning on a lump-sum-turn-key basis to build a 180 km pipeline and a central processing facility (CPF) with a capacity of 177 million cu ft per day (MMSCFD), it said.

The project is expected to be completed in 2017.

“Our accumulated experience in the oil and gas sector in Mena led to this opportunity to work with Groupement Timimoun. With our commitment to safety for the project and environment, we will execute and complete this project successfully and expect to deepen our footprint in Africa,” said Park. - TradeArabia News Service
