Bahrain energy sector focus of major forum

Manama, April 6, 2014

A forum celebrating the achievements of Bahrain's energy sector will be held later this month.

Finance Minister and Minister in charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa will patronise Bahrain Energy Forum on April 22 and 23. It is being organised by Meed in partnership with the National Oil and Gas Authority.

Coinciding with the 80th jubilee of the start of exports of crude oil from Bahrain in 1934, the forum will highlight the achievements made by the hydrocarbons, power and water sectors and explore the prospects for energy businesses globally, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The minister said hosting the forum was in line with the government's interest to support international specialised functions held in Bahrain, especially the oil and gas ones.

He pointed out that the forum would provide a platform to discuss oil and gas issues, and reaffirm Bahrain's historic position as the energy hub of the Gulf and the wider Middle East.

The event will attract local, regional and international oil and gas experts, decision-makers and practitioners.

The forum will address the following topics: Bahrain's long-term energy strategy, upstream oil and gas projects, power generation, transmission and distribution project updates and future prospects, wastewater and sewage projects, downstream manufacturing industries including aluminium and steel and how they optimise energy use, procurement and project delivery strategies including local talent development and joint ventures and financing major energy projects in Bahrain - challenges and successful funding models.-TradeArabia News Service
