Toys “R” Us recalls floral infant slings

Dubai, April 6, 2010

Toys “R” Us,  a unit of the Al-Futtaim group in Dubai, has urged customers to stop using the 'Infantino SlingRider – Burgundy' floral infant slings following a product recall by the company.

The Infantino “SlingRider,” is a soft fabric baby carrier with a padded shoulder strap that is worn by parents and caregivers to carry an infant weighing up to 20 lbs.

The appeal was made by company following a notification from its supplier Infantino that a limited number of slings sold in the region were subject to a product recall following reports in the US of suffocation hazard.

On directives from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), one million of these infant slings are being recalled in the US and 15,000 are being recalled in Canada.

CPSC has advised consumers to immediately stop using these slings for infants younger than four months of age due to a risk of suffocation.

'All customers who have purchased Infantino SlingRider – Burgundy floral infant slings (Manufacture number 751-613) must stop using it immediately and bring it back to the customer service desk at any Toys “R” Us store in the UAE for a full refund, said a company statement.

'Our uncompromising commitment to safety has been, and continues to be, our highest priority and we take our role as a responsible retailer very seriously. No incidents have been reported in the Middle East,' the Toys “R” Us said in a statement.
