Samsung unveils world’s brightest 3D notebook

Amman, June 7, 2011

Samsung has launched its RF712, the world’s brightest 3D notebook.

It features a large 17.3” screen and Full HD SuperBright Plus Display, which delivers 400nit brightness and is up to 80 per cent brighter than a normal notebook. So it overcomes the darkness and narrow feeling of normal 3D notebooks.

The high performance graphics processing of a 2GB AMD Radeon HD6650M card and the powerful sound of its Enhanced Acoustic Chamber System with SRS 3D Sound also mean that even the most demanding multimedia applications will run flawlessly on the RF712, a statement said.

“With our experience in 3D and display technology, Samsung has unrivalled professional know-how in the market, which we have used to develop the RF712 and deliver a world class 3D capability to the notebook user. It combines high performance, exceptional entertainment features and cutting-edge design to give both multimedia user and gamers a superior experience,” said Sangsuk Roh, president of Samsung Electronics Levant.

Samsung has also incorporated SRS 3D Sound into the RF712 to create a richer and more immersive experience, whether one is watching the latest Blu-ray movie, playing the latest games or streaming content from the web. In addition, converting software is installed on RF712 so that one can transform 2D pictures and video clips into 3D – without paying for a specialist program or complicated conversion process.

Samsung’s active shuttering 3D technology offers a wider viewing angle, produces higher resolution, more natural colours with much less visual disruption. Its Bluetooth 3D glasses can be worn simultaneously by up to 4 viewers.

An Intel Core i7 (up to Quad Core)/i5 processor allows one to work swiftly and operate multiple programs simultaneously, while “Fast Start” technology means one can start the notebook faster than other PCs and wake up from sleep mode within seconds of opening the display or pressing the power button. In this advanced sleep mode, data is also saved on HDD as well as memory, so content is ready, just as one left it, even if power is suddenly lost or when one changes the battery.

In addition, the RF712 offers fast data transfer speeds using either its USB 3.0 slots or Bluetooth v3.0 High Speed. Plus a built-in Blu-ray player lets one enjoy the latest in High Definition entertainment and with up to 1.5TB of storage you can amass a significant media collection.

Samsung's intelligent charging technology, PowerPlus, enables the battery to keep 80 per cent of its original capacity for up to 1,000 recharges – 3x longer than a typical battery. So it’s more economical and environmentally friendly as fewer batteries need to be replaced, the statement said.

The RF712 has a unique spiral design to match its high performance. Its Island keyboard creates a distinctive look as it does not have the casing that normally surrounds the keys on most notebooks. It also comes with an aluminum palm rest. The RF712 is a portable device, weighing 2.9kg/6.39lbs.-TradeArabia News Service
