Omani products expo opens at Carrefour

Muscat, November 14, 2013

The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) opened yesterday (November 13) an exhibition of Omani products at Carrefour Hypermarket in Muscat City Center, a major shopping and leisure destination.

The Omani Products Exhibition, which will continue till November 20th, comes as part of the series of events of the 'Omani 2013' campaign and in line with the continuous cooperation between PEIE and several commercial centres in Oman.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani, CEO of PEIE said: "Besides creating job opportunities for the citizens, the campaign makes Omani products reach to the finest global markets and compete with other countries products.”

“The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates is undertaking significant efforts in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (PAIPED) to promote Omani products inside and outside the Sultanate," Al Hasani pointed out.

"This has resulted in achieving the growth of Omani exports and for Omani products to reach to various international markets, besides the establishment of new plants and expansions in existing plants. In fact, the existing plants have managed to attract more than 14,000 Omani workforces, which is reflected positively in improving the living conditions in the community and the GDP of the Sultanate,” he added.

Hamood bin Abdullah Al Balushi, director of Omani Product Department at PEIE, said, "The exhibition comes in the midst of the Sultanate's celebrations of the 43rd National Day, and follows the positive results achieved by previous exhibitions locally and abroad."

"Next week, PEIE in cooperation with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) and the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (PAIPED), will hold another exhibition in Doha, Qatar from November 17 to 20 at Doha Exhibition Centre,” he added.

“More than 75 local companies representing sectors of food, building materials, construction, electrical materials, furniture supplies, plastic, security and safety equipment, energy and other industries will take part in Qatar's exhibition; in addition to a number of government institutions including Ministry of Tourism, Public Authority for Craft Industries, and Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development,” Al Balushi concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
