Expo 2020 ‘boost for luxury lifestyle, technology’

Dubai, November 28, 2013

Dubai’s successful bid for World Expo 2020 will have a pronounced impact for brands in the luxury lifestyle and technology as it encapsulates this interconnectedness, said an industry expert.

“The announcement of the Expo 2020 comes at a time when a resurgent Dubai is finding its feet again as a city of endless opportunities and unprecedented growth,” said Dadkarim Mulla, co-founder of Amodoria, a major British fashion, lifestyle and technology brand.

“For the luxury lifestyle and technology industry, Expo 2020 will prove to be an exciting time for the industry to capitalise on, as it prepares for a monumental event coming to the region.”

Having launched its one-of-a-kind luxury devices and accessories in 2014, including handsets and tablets encrusted with precious metals, exotic leathers and gemstones, as well as fine crafted smart-leather and jeweled accessories, Amodoria has witnessed a market response that has exceeded expectations, he added.

In autumn 2013, Amodoria announced the release of the world’s first “smart” cufflinks, bracelet and interactive wallet using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. These fashion items shed light to the innovative plans and developments ahead of Expo 2020, which will take place in the luxury technology market.

“This does not only present an opportunity in making Dubai an exemplar for innovation but for new and existing companies to sell and develop lifestyle technology products that are growing in demand. Industry figures show that the luxury consumer electronics sector is the fastest growing in the luxury goods industry,” Mulla explained.

“Events such as the Expo will be a catalyst for such trends taking place in a wider sense. As the number of visitors to Dubai are expected to increase, so too will arise an increased propensity for consumption, owing to the foreign derived market’s substantial contribution to retail sales and subsequent industrial growth.”

With the luxury market predictions for 2014 in mind, Amodoria has branded the Middle East’s first “smart cufflinks” with the Expo 2020 logo, combining the artistic design with functionality.

Along with Expo branded products, Amodoria offers a corporate design service through which it creates bespoke packaging and branding to any item from their product range.

People in the region are often fascinated with personalisation, numbering, uniqueness and how businesses are looking for a way to differentiate their tailor items for clients using cutting edge techniques, said Mulla.

“Through the Expo win and looking at 2014 market trends, we see a massive opportunity within the luxury market, all the while taking note of the timely reminder of not only how far Dubai has come, but what can be achieved in such a short space of time,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
