Jewellery Arabia sales top $28m

Last month's Jewellery Arabia exhibition held in Bahrain witnessed a gold rush with total sales reaching BD11.14 million ($28.9 million), it was revealed yesterday.

Details presented to the Cabinet by Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro showed an increase in sales of 51.2 per cent, compared to last year's event, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Minister of State for Information Affairs and official government spokeswoman Sameera Rajab told journalists after the Cabinet's weekly session that the number of visitors reached 48,470, an increase of 28.6 per cent compared to last year.

"A total of 600 international and local companies representing 30 countries took part in the exhibition," she said.

"They represented GCC countries, Jordan, Austria, Brazil, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, the US, UK, Singapore and India, besides local exhibitors." - TradeArabia News Service
