New resort opens at Amwaj

Manama, June 30, 2009

The Dragon, Bahrain's newest luxury hotel and resort, has opened at Amwaj Islands.

The Dragon, a BD22 million seafront property designed to resemble the legendary creature, is said to come with private infinity pools, seafront views and opulent contemporary decor.

It is spread over an area of 13,244 sq m and the total built up area is 17,860 sq m.

“It has been designed in the shape of a sleeping dragon with its long neck stretching across the water to form a conical dragon-like head, reminiscent of a majestic giant watching over the waters of the Arabian Gulf,” said managing company, Gamma Hotel Management director Amitabh Mathur.

Addressing a Press conference at the hotel, he said its distinctive dragon scales prevailed over the land, making it a unique and iconic architectural feature.

“The property also offers a range of accommodation, including 31 suites, 17 chalets, and five villas, all lining the waterfront,” he said.

“This is the first hotel in the heart of Amwaj Islands and is just minutes away from Bahrain International Airport.

“Not only will it serve as an exceptional getaway with luxurious amenities and first class services, it will also offer a host of leisure and entertainment facilities open to the public.”

Mathur said The Dragon would offer guests an unparalleled contemporary experience.
