Manama, July 27, 2009

Al Asmar Transport Tourism & Travel, a leading Bahrain-based travel agency, has appointed a new general manager for its operations in Bahrain and in the Middle East, in an initiative to expand and launch new tourism programmes.

Sylvie Vermierdt is the new general manager – Bahrain for Al Asmar TTT, which operates from a number of branches inside and outside Bahrain.

Vermierdt, a Belgian national with a master degree in commerce and administration, brings over 10 years of experience in Bahrain's tourism industry to the role.

'Appointing Sylvie brings significant tourism experience to Alasmar TTT,” said Ahmed Al Demestani, chairman, Alasmar TTT.

“A key responsibility for Sylvie will be to drive initiatives for inbound and outbound programs among Bahrain market; after the strong response we have received for our programs and campaigns since first commencing our work in Bahrain.'

'We're looking forward to have someone of Sylvie’s calibre on board to ensure ongoing roll out of the organization's global marketing strategy, and continue to cut through in the competitive international markets,' Al Demestani added.

Vermierdt said: 'Bahrain has an authentic Arab heritage, historical sites and a liberal modern reputation. The kingdom combines Arab culture, gulf glitz and the archaeological legacy of five thousand years of civilization.'

'More than 50 per cent of expatriates in Bahrain are not aware of those beautiful historical sites such as Dilmun graves, Al-khamis Mosque, Barbar Temple, Bahrain Fort, Burial Mounds, Tree of Life, Beit Al Quran, and Al Jasra Handicraft Centre, among others,” she added.

“We at Al Asmar TTT give extra attention to each and every point when preparing our packages. We’ve been there, we experienced it, and we liked it!! So we are happy now to open the door for everyone to explore Bahrain and the entire world's beauty.'

'I am now looking forward to put my experience and passion towards promoting the whole of Bahrain and all other world's splendors,' Vermierdt added. – TradeArabia News Service
