Cavotec inks $40m Bahrain airport contract

Dubai, April 20, 2010

Cavotec Middle East, the UAE-based subsidiary of global engineering group Cavotec MSL, has signed a EUR30 million ($40.4 million) contract with the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC).

As per the agreement, Cavotec and BAC will work together to develop and integrate a comprehensive range of ground support equipment for the Bahrain International Airport.

“With the help and support of Cavotec’s advanced technologies, we will be able to achieve a higher level of efficiency and further streamline our operations at Bahrain International,” said Dr Osama Al Ali, chief of Bahrain Airport Company.

The turnkey project will see Cavotec integrate a spectrum of state-of-the-art in-ground systems for remote aircraft aprons at Bahrain International. These solutions will include 18 pre-conditioned air (PCAir) systems, in-ground pop-up units, transformer substations, 400Hz power supply systems, a Vacuum Evacuation System, a blue water supply system and a potable water supply system.

To be completed by February 2011, the new system aims to create a seamless ground process at Bahrain International Airport, saving both time and cost, and ensuring a competitive edge for the aviation hub.

“This is the first time that we are delivering an end-to-end solution of such magnitude in the region and we hope to give it our signature of dedication to cutting-edge technology and environmental responsibility,” added Juergen Strommer, managing director at Cavotec Middle East.-TradeArabia News Service
