The UAE participated for the first time in the Central European Rotation Group (Cerg) Executive Meeting, which took place in Romania, in a bid to strengthen cooperation in civil aviation.

“UAE participation at this event reflects the close cooperation that Cerg countries and the UAE have recently developed,” said Capt Aysha Al Hamili, the UAE Permanent Representative on the Icao Council.

“Cerg member States and the UAE discussed ways to strengthening training cooperation in civil aviation with particular emphasis on human resource capacity building.”

Capt Al Hamili also noted that in this collaborative spirit in civil aviation, the UAE has also worked very closely with a number of EU member States at several of Icao’s high-level meetings, including the latest high-level environmental meeting and the High-Level Safety Conference.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (Easa) recently selected the UAE to host Easa’s international cooperation forum in its second session, the first outside Europe, which discussed the latest developments in safety standards applied by Easa and followed by several civil aviation authorities around the world.

“Cerg member States and the UAE look forward to work together to foster the sustainable development of air transport,” Capt Al Hamili concluded.

The UAE has committed to a series of initiatives in cooperation with Icao that will positively impact the integrity of civil aviation services across the entire 190 Member States, and become a leading contributor to safety, security and environment programmes being administered by Icao.

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (Gaca) has also signed a number of vital agreements in the civil aviation industry with many states and organisations all over the world.-TradeArabia News Service
