Manama, July 26, 2010

Bahrain Airport Company has signed an agreement with the Kingdom's Civil Aviation Affairs to take part in the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS) due to be held in Sakhir in January 2012.

Kamal Ahmed, chairman of Bahrain Airport Company, and undersecretary of the Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) and deputy chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for the BIAS, Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud, signed the pact on the sidelines of the Farnborough International Airshow in UK.

Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for the Bahrain International Airshow Sheikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa was also present at the signing ceremony.

“We are pleased to be amongst the first to confirm our participation in this major event, as it creates the ideal platform to showcase the progress of our development plans for Bahrain International Airport and the national aviation industry as a whole,” said Ahmed.

“BIAS 2012 will build on the success of the inaugural show, held earlier this year and will complement our efforts to promote Bahrain and its Airport as an international aviation hub,” he continued.

Ahmed said Bahrain Airport Company is a cornerstone in Bahrain’s aviation industry, and we are looking forward to sharing our ambitions and vision with other stakeholders within the industry through this elite event.

"We are strongly committed to uplifting the Kingdom’s aviation sector and sustaining Bahrain International Airport’s position through operational excellence and world-class facilities. Our goal is to transform the Airport into a regionally renowned and globally competitive player within the industry," he added.

Ahmed also thanked Sheikh Abdulla for his leadership, his efforts to bring established industry players to BIAS and his commitment to its success.-TradeArabia News Service
