Bahrain plans aviation firms’ merger

Manama, October 10, 2012

Bahrain’s aviation firms could be merged into one company as part of a plan to boost profitability, with negotiations bringing Gulf Air, the Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) and other related firms under one roof.

“The government is currently negotiating with all those concerned to reach a deal, considering that some firms are not government-owned,” the parliament’s financial and economic affairs committee chairman Ali Al Durazi told our sister newspaper, the Gulf Daily News.

“People can imagine Bahrain Air Fuelling Company (Bafco), Bahrain Airport Services (BAS), Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) and Gulf Air all under one roof.”

“This will certainly be a very profitable merger that everyone would benefit from.”

However, he added that the government was yet to present details of the plan to the National Assembly. – TradeArabia News Service
