Cavotec to showcase apron technology

Dubai, May 1, 2013

Cavotec, a global engineering group and airport systems integrator, will showcase its groundbreaking clean apron technology at the upcoming Airport Show 2013 in Dubai.

This is the latest concept in airport design: it eliminates non-essential mobile GSE vehicles, such as costly auxiliary power units (APU), from the apron and delivers utilities to the aircraft (air, fuel, power, water and wet services) via in-ground pop-up pit systems.

“To further support our growth in the region, we are highlighting Cavotec’s clean apron concept as the new standard in aircraft utility operations at the Dubai Airport Show,” said Juergen Strommer, managing director of Cavotec Middle East.
“With the system in place, airports are able to significantly reduce operating costs and in turn, realise dramatic increases in operational efficiency meaning faster turnaround times, reduced emissions and happier travelers due to an overall better airport experience.

“We will also take the opportunity to have a dialogue with our customers, which will allow us to listen to the technical requirements and challenges they face, thus incorporating customer input into the planning and design of our future products,” he added.

Currently, Cavotec is fulfilling orders for frequency converters in Kuwait, pop-up pits for Salalah Airport, fuel hydrant pits and access covers for Muscat Airport, pop-up pits and pre-conditioned air units in Dubai, and pits with converters and pre-conditioned air units for hangars in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

The Group’s most recent project is at the Emirates Engineering Centre at Dubai International Airport, which will employ Cavotec’s unique pop-up utility pits and Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) units for its four new Airbus A380 hangars. Delivery is due to start in the second quarter this year, with commissioning slated for the end of 2013.

The 13th edition of the Airport Show will take place from May 6 to 8 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. – TradeArabia News Service
