BIHR in training deal with Swiss tourism institute

Manama, September 30, 2013

Bahrain Institute of Hospitality and Retail (BIHR) has signed a partnership agreement with Hotel and Tourism Management Institute HTMi of Switzerland to boost its training standards.

Under the tie-up, HTMi will create a roadmap to improve the standard of training at BIHR, on par with the Swiss standards and introduce Apple technology in learning and training hospitality and tourism training in Bahrain, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

A Dadabai Group managing director Qutub Dadabhai, representing BIHR, and HTMi director and owner Ian Lamour signed the agreement in Switzerland.

"This tie-up will lead to a quantum leap in training in BIHR," stated Dadabhai.

"The Swiss institute will entirely supervise the training process in BIHR until we reach high international standards and adopt new learning technology in order to achieve paperless classes," he noted.

"This development comes in line with the government policies aimed at making Bahrain a regional hub for training in the hospitality and tourism sector which is considered the biggest contributing sector to the national income and creation of jobs," said Dadabhai.

"We will invest in infrastructure to cope with new demands and technology in order to empower Bahrainis in this sector and increase their share in the work force," he added.

Lamour said the institute was glad to share Swiss knowhow in hospitality with the Gulf region through BIHR.

"We already have a roadmap in hand to improve the training capability in BIHR and provide opportunity to students to obtain Bachelor, Master and MBA degrees, in addition to work during training through participation in world sports and cultural events such as the world cup."

HTMi Hotel and Tourism Management Institute is located in Soerenberg in Canton Lucerne.

It provides high-quality education training and work internships to students.

Students gain Swiss-style diplomas for education and for training followed by a Bachelor or MBA degree from universities with a long standing tradition for excellence in degree-level education all taught in English.-TradeArabia News Service
