Flydubai to launch flights to Saudi city

Dubai, January 19, 2014

Dubai-based low-cost carrier flydubai is set to launch two weekly flights to Hofuf, the largest city in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia from next month.

The new service to Al-Ahsa Airport, on Thursdays and Saturdays, will commence on February 6, bringing the total number of destinations served by the carrier in the Kingdom to 11, said a statement from the airline.

CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said: “We appreciate the continuous support we receive from the Saudi authorities and are honoured to have the opportunity to further expand our network in Saudi Arabia. The new service will further strengthen the strong cultural and trade ties between our two nations.”

On Thursdays, the flight FZ897 will depart Dubai International Terminal 2 at 12.30pm and land in Al-Ahsa Airport at 1pm (local time). On return, FZ898 will leave Al-Ahsa Airport at 2pm and touch down at Dubai International Terminal 2 at 4.35pm (local time).

On Saturdays, the flight FZ897 will take off from Dubai at 9.10pm and land in Hofuf at 9.45pm (local time), while on return FZ898 will depart Hofuf at 10.45pm and arrive in Dubai at 1.15am.

Al Ghaith said flydubai was the first airline to offer a direct air link between Dubai and Hofuf, opening up new opportunities for trade and tourism.

"This new route will allow passengers from one of the major cultural centres in the Kingdom to travel to Dubai or connect onwards across the flydubai network, while giving UAE residents the opportunity to explore a region with a rich historical and cultural tradition," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
