Bahrain air show ‘a boon for hotels’

Manama, January 22, 2014

The third Bahrain international airshow proved to be a boon for the hospitality industry.

Bahrain’s five-star hotels reported an occupancy rate exceeding 95 per cent during the three-day event, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Occupancy at four-star hotels soared by a substantial 20 per cent, compared to last year.

Assistant under-secretary for tourism Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa said the overall occupancy topped 80 per cent during the air show this year.

He congratulated the leadership on the resounding success of the event.

“The show was a major boost, promoting Bahrain as a major destination and wooing visitors to tourism attractions,” he said, stressing the crucial importance of such events in boosting hotel occupancy rates and consolidating Bahrain’s status on the map of tourism-oriented countries in the region.

The air show proved to be a boon for shopping malls, restaurants and cafes, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
