About six million visitors from the UAE are set to fly to India for luxury
wellness treatment, says Gayatri Bhardwaj.

Emiratis spending $4bn on wellness tourism

Dubai, May 18, 2014

The UAE residents spent an estimated $6.6 billion per year on international holiday trips of which $4 billion is spent on medical and luxury wellness tourism, said a report.

Royal India Wellness exhibition will showcase over 25 luxury wellness service and retail therapy providers will focus on India’s agenda of wellness through rejuvenation, holistic healing and prevention and reversal of lifestyle diseases.

With people taking more responsibility for their own health and searching for ways to rejuvenate and reverse clinical and lifestyle concerns impacting the future, ‘wellness travel’ tops the wish list of most holiday makers, according to the Global Wellness Institute.

Luxury wellness tourism is a reality and the numbers are staggering, stated the report.

The luxury wellness tourism is already a $439 billion market - or more than one in seven of all tourist dollars—and is set to grow to $678.5 billion in three short years (by 2017), said an expert ahead of a wellness expo in Dubai.

Royal India Wellness initiated by Dubai-based HNI-Luxury consultants Globuzz, is making its entry into UAE’s much awaited 'luxury' wellness platform through a three-day exhibition at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai starting from June 11.

The exhibition will be showcasing over 25 luxury wellness service and retail therapy providers will focus on India’s agenda of wellness through rejuvenation, holistic healing and prevention and reversal of lifestyle diseases.

"This is our initiative to connect High Net worth Individuals of the UAE and GCC to the top high-end wellness brands, therapy services and medical facilities from India. We aim to facilitate and explore potential trade opportunities to create nodal wellness platforms within the UAE which is the undisputed tourism hub of the region," remarked Gayathri Bhardwaj, the founder and managing director of Globuzz.

An estimated 5,000 visitors from UAE and GCC over the three-day period will have free access to therapy introductions, consultations, product experience lounges and interesting seminars on luxury wellness, clinical and holistic healing from eminent consultants, therapists and medical authorities.

"The visitors to the expo are encouraged to interact with the exhibitors and consider quality personalized therapies relevant to their overall well-being. Such Wellness consultations will also enable individuals to take increased responsibility for their physical and mental health behaviours," stated Bhardwaj.

According to her, six million visitors from the UAE are stated to fly to India for luxury wellness tourism, a sector which is estimated to grow 50 per cent faster than the other aspects of global tourism in 2017.

India’s total wellness market, she stated, was valued at $18 billion over the next four years.

The Dubai event is within the parameters of a wellness traveller from UAE and GCC - the platform is specifically designed to motivate the desire for rejuvenation, healthy quality of life, disease management through holistic healing, stress reduction and smartly balancing mind, body and soul, stated Bhardwaj.

"It is also ideal for those simply seeking an authentic home away from home with a mesmerizing luxury Indian experience," she added.-TradeArabia News Service
