Etihad suspends Erbil flights
Abu Dhabi, August 8, 2014
UAE’s national airline Etihad Airways has suspended all flights to Erbil, Iraq with immediate effect until further notice.
The decision to suspend the four flights a week passenger service followed advice regarding the possibility of a deteriorating security situation in the region as a result of on-going military conflict between Iraqi security and ISIS forces, said a statement.
The safety of Etihad Airways’ passengers and staff is of paramount importance, and the airline will continue to monitor the security situation closely before recommencing scheduled services to and from Erbil, it said.
However, flights to Basra and Baghdad are currently operating as normal, it added. - TradeArabia News Sevice
