Prince Alwaleed in tie-up talks with Korea firm

RIYADH, March 12, 2015

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), recently met with the chairman of South Korea’s CG Group and discussed potential partnership between KHC and CJ group.

CJ Corporation is a South Korean conglomerate holding company headquartered in Seoul. It comprises numerous businesses in various industries of food and food service, pharmaceutics and biotechnology, entertainment and media, home shopping and logistics.

Sohn, Kyung-Shik, chairman of CJ Group and an accompanying delegation met with Prince Alwaleed at the latter’s office in Riyadh.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Fahmy, KHC’s CFO, Mohammed Almujadidi, senior executive manager, Office of the KHC chairman, Heba Fatani, senior executive manager, Corporate Communications Department and Fahad Bin Saad Bin Nafel, executive assistant to Prince Alwaleed.

Kyung-Shik and Prince Alwaleed also discussed the latest developments in the global economy.

Recently, Prince Alwaleed met with Park Geun-Hye, President of the Republic of Korea with an accompanying delegation at the King Saud Palace. During the meeting, the two discussed a number of social and economic issues.

In addition, Prince Alwaleed had signed an MOU with Hank Ahn, chairman and CEO of Korea Investment Corporation (KIC). This strategic partnership aims at generating opportunities in private equity investments and the exchange of investment opportunities between both parties globally.

Furthermore, this partnership is the first of its kind between an investment holding company and a leading sovereign wealth fund, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
