Key BBBF achievements reviewed at Bahrain meet

MANAMA, May 13, 2015

Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF) held its annual general meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, which saw the re-election of several current committee members and the addition of three new committee members.

BBBF chairman Khalid Al Zayani gave his annual report which recapped last year's achievements and outlined the BBBF's financial report for 2014, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

New committee members include Ava Garbutt, Ben Elsworth and Heather Hopper.

This year also sees the BBBF's Special Interest Groups (SIG) led by Paula Boast increase to eight.

The groups incorporate Construction, Banking and Financial Services, ICT, Legal, Organisational Effectiveness, Security, Young Professionals; and the recently established Oil and Gas SIG.

Among the many achievements was growing the BBBF's membership to 450 businessmen and women representing all sectors of business whilst the BBBF's monthly networking functions regularly attracted more than 100 members and guests at each function.

Speakers at these functions have been prominent figures from local organisations and government bodies, including several ministers, business and community leaders and visiting trade delegations from the UK including a special visit from the Duke of York.

“This year we have continued to strengthen our position as the largest business group in Bahrain, attracting many new members from all sectors of the business community,” Al Zayani said.

“Particularly, we are looking to encourage new young members, the leaders of the future, to complement our diverse membership and bring new sustainable ideas to the table.

“A big thank you goes to our executive committee, SIG leaders, and sponsors HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Gulf Brands International, AXA Insurance, Etihad Airways and Hill + Knowlton Strategies, as well as to our extremely supportive British Ambassador Iain Lindsay for his unwavering backing.” - TradeArabia News Service
