Risk managment, compliance in Islamic finance in focus

MANAMA, January 18, 2016

The issues of risk management and compliance in the Islamic financial services industry will be discussed at a seminar in Muscat, Oman this week.
 
The 'International Seminar on Risk Management and Compliance in Islamic Financial Institutions: Key Trends and Market Practices,' which is being organised by CIBAFI, will take place on January 20 and 21 at the Al Bustan Palace.
 
The seminar aims to bring together various stakeholders from the private sector, multilateral development institutions, international and national regulatory bodies, policy-makers and academia, said a statement.
 
 It will be facilitated by a distinguished line-up of industry prominent experts and practitioners.
 
The key note speaker will be Hamood Sangour Al Zadjali, executive president of the Central Bank of Oman.
 
The organisers have also announced confirmed speakers for the seminar.
 
The sessions will include 'Managing Risk Exposures to the Evolving Global Macroeconomic and Political Uncertainties'; 'Technology Risks in Islamic Financial Institutions – Issues, Complexities, and Strategies'; 'Credit Quality And Liquidity Risk Challenges – Current And Future Regulatory Developments, And Best Practices'; 'Regulatory Developments, Compliance Costs, And Capacity Building In Aml/Cft For Islamic Financial Institutions; and 'Equity Finance Risks – Transition As An Emerging Concern.'
 
It will also include a special session, titled 'Ethical Approach to Preventing Future Financial Crisis,' which will present some of the exceptional insights from the financial economy’s ethical standpoint, including on why the global economy is considered vulnerable to another financial crisis in the future. - TradeArabia News Service
