Adnec thanks Capital Centre owners

Abu Dhabi, November 22, 2007

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec) held a special VIP lunch on behalf of its chairman Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan to thank individuals and organisations who have purchased the 23 plots of land that make up Capital Centre.

More than 120 people, representing the 22 individual developers, attended the lunch where the guests were treated to a special performance by world famous kinetic artist, Norman Perryman.

Each plot-owner was given a specially commissioned individual piece of art by Adnec, created by Perryman, which was inspired by Capital Centre and painted to a musical score in recognition of their contribution to Capital Centre.

“Capital Centre is one of the cornerstones of our strategy to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s profile as a major destination in the Middle East.  It will serve as a foundation on which new investments, industrial growth and business tourism will be built,” said managing director of Adnec Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie.

“Capital Centre will utilise the benefits provided by world class international exhibitions, such as today’s events – the International Fine Art & Antiques Fair and the Abu Dhabi International Jewellery Exhibition, to diversify the region’s economy and promote Abu Dhabi as the preferred destination in the region for commerce and tourism and develop the economic potential of the emirate and the city,” he added.

On completion in early 2011, Capital Centre will house a new micro-city of 23 towers with a total area of eight million square feet, including seven hotels, five commercial buildings, five serviced apartment buildings, three residential and serviced apartment complexes and three mixed use developments.

Also featured in Capital Centre will be Capital Gate - the 35 story iconic Feature Tower, a 2.3km waterfront Marina Zone; a proposed monorail and the ‘Galleria’ - a shopping mall with restaurants, retail outlets, and cinemas. – TradeArabia News Service
