Hyder Consulting wins $1.7m Enpark contract

Hyder Consulting Middle East said it has won an Dh6.5 million ($1.7 million) contract for the roads, infrastructure and sustainability aspects of Dubai's Energy and Environment Park (Enpark).

Hyder Consulting, the award-winning international advisory and design consultancy said it will be responsible for the design and consultancy of the project, which includes over eight million sq feet of office space, research centre and residential, educational as well as leisure facilities.

Enpark, a comprehensive eco-friendly free zone community for commercial and residential use, is a Tecom Investments company and a member of Dubai Holdings.

The consulting company will also be undertaking post-contract and site supervision services to ensure successful operation of the project.

Barry Summers, project manager, Hyder Consulting Middle East said: "Enpark marks a valuable addition to the portfolio of Hyder Consulting. The project is unique as it aims to reduce rising utility costs and create a green environment that utilises cutting edge technology. A distinct objective of Enpark is to achieve a high level of excellence with regard to sustainability and cost effectiveness. The project also aims to qualify for US Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) gold certification.

"Leveraging on its global expertise and knowledge, Hyder Consulting will work with Enpark to create a global model for sustainable development, minimal environmental footprint and energy optimisation," Joseph Costello, Highways & Infrastructure engineer, Hyder Consulting Middle East said.

Hyder Consulting started work for Enpark in July 2008, ahead of the expected infrastructure works planned to commence by end of the year. The first phase of the project is scheduled for completion in 2010. - TradeArabia News Service
