Houses in revamp plan ‘flawed’

Manama, August 28, 2011

A number of fatal architectural and technical flaws have been discovered in the houses revamped under the dilapidated houses project in Bahrain, a top official said.

These houses are still classified as ‘dilapidated’ even after completion of work on the project, said Muharraq municipal councillor Ghazi Al Murbati.

Al Murbati rejected an alternative plan, under study by Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry, to grant beneficiaries between BD35,000 ($92,800) to BD40,000, warning that the money would be directed away from the objective of His Majesty King Hamad to provide proper housing for citizens, our sister publication Akhbar Al Khaleej reported. – TradeArabia News Service
