UAE construction giant Al Habtoor-Murray & Roberts JV has adopted a key solution from India-based Wrench Solutions for its upcoming ‘St. Regis Spa and Resort’ project at Saadiyat Beach in Abu Dhabi.

Wrench Solutions, a leading IT solutions provider for engineering and manufacturing industry, said the UAE group has implemented its Wrench technology as the new in-house data management system for the resort project.

Commenting on the switchover, Ron Brinkman, technical manager, Murray & Roberts said, 'We wanted a more sophisticated document management and control system that provided us with real time information and control than the one we were using.'

'Wrench|enterprise was the only software that we evaluated that could provide us all the features that we needed. This software was also able to integrate with our existing infrastructure,' he added.

Around 75000 correspondences are expected over the lifecycle of the project, which consumes a large storage area and maintenance. With Wrench, the incoming correspondences are being scanned and registered in the system and distributed electronically to the users, he noted.

“It is very common that the design drawings also get revised during the construction phase due to certain changes in requirements. Any change in design drawing has a subsequent change in shop drawing and the material requirements,' he explained.

'Wrench drawing/specter comparison feature enables the quantity surveyors to easily identify the changes in design across different revisions,' Pickering added.
