DMCC assessing new water treatment technologies

Dubai, July 14, 2013

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre Authority (DMCC) said it is evaluating technologies in line with local and international benchmarks to enhance the quality and purity of the water across its lakes.

While there are a limited number of new technologies available that allow for purification of water in large scale projects such as Jumeirah Lakes Towers, the authority is considering a range of best practice methods including fresh water lake management systems, said a statement.

Matt Lomax, property director, said: “At DMCC we continuously look at ways enhancing the environment for the 65,000 people currently working and living in Jumeirah Lakes Towers. One such initiative is to ensure that the water quality of the lakes are managed in the most efficient, environmentally friendly and sustainable way.”

Dubai Municipality recently also announced good results of a ‘magnetic techniques’ system used to clean Zabeel Park Lake, a method also being reviewed for its potential application in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, said the statement.

With 65 mixed-use commercial and residential towers and over 200 retail outlets in operation, there are currently over 65,000 people working and living within Jumeirah Lakes Towers. The Government Authority is also firmly set to meet its commitment made in early 2011 to be home to over 7,200 companies by the end of 2013. - TradeArabia News Service
