Panasonic wiring devices win UAE quality mark

Dubai, November 26, 2013

Panasonic has become the first brand in wiring devices across GCC to receive the Emirates Quality Mark.

Panasonic has been aiming for the full scale development of its electrical construction materials businesses such as wiring devices in markets having potential for medium and long-term growth like the Middle East and Africa and this certification further authenticates Panasonic’s wiring devices, a statement said.

Implemented by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), Emirates Quality Mark certification includes a rigorous process that ensures imported and locally-produced products meet strict UAE, GCC, and international standards.

The process includes a thorough check of product quality and conformity to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. ESMA certification enables companies to use the Emirates Mark of Conformity on their certified products.

ESMA director general Mohammed Saleh Badri awarded the certification to Maeda Tatsuo, general manager, Eco Solutions Department, Panasonic Marketing Middle East & Africa.

“With a positive outlook in Middle East construction industry due to investments from across the world, utmost safety of the residents is imperative and this is a well thought off directive by the government,” said Maeda.

“The certification process involves a thorough check of product quality from raw materials to finished product stage and it is commendable that Panasonic wiring products have been rated among the best in the market for product excellence and customer safety. This ESMA – EQM certification opens up new avenues, giving Panasonic a competitive edge to work with government and private projects in UAE & other parts of GCC.”

EQM certification is accepted by member of GCC council like Qatar, Oman etc.

“ESMA has been responsible for regulating various products with the latest addition being the wiring devices,” said Badri.

“As per the new regulation, it is mandatory to have ESMA’s ECAS or EQM certification. Panasonic’s products have complied with our certification requirements and can be considered safe for use. As the first brand to receive the Emirates Quality Mark, Panasonic’s strict standards have raised the bar for wiring devices across the GCC.” – TradeArabia News Service
