Saraya Bandar launches 5-star hotel project

Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has started work on the second 5-star hotel of Saraya Bandar Jissah, the company developing Oman`s newest integrated tourism complex.

A local arm of HLG, Leighton Middle East Contracting, has been awarded a RO30 million ($78 million) contract for the project.

HLG has wide experience in construction including hotel developments, commercial and retail developments, residential developments, hospitals and healthcare facilities and government buildings.

As per the deal, HLG will be responsible for carrying out all civil works, MEP work and finishes. This will also include infrastructure preparation and landscaping. Atkins will serve as the supervision consultants, managing the progress of the construction work on site.

“Saraya Bandar Jissah is pleased to be working with HLG who has delivered quality projects throughout the region. We look forward to a successful work partnership to deliver this flagship property,” said Sheikh Hamood Al Hosni, the CEO of Saraya Bandar Jissah on the sidelines of the ATM in Dubai.

Located on the outskirts of Muscat on a unique secluded beach surrounded by the Hajar Mountains, the new five-star hotel will be operated by Jumeirah Group, which will bring its expertise in developing leading destinations catering to both domestic and international tourists, he added.

The hotel project, part of the first construction phase along with the boutique hotel, recreational facilities and residential neighborhoods, will be completed in 2017.

The two hotels will together form the major leisure components of Saraya Bandar Jissah.

CEO and managing director José Antonio López-Monís, said HLG was pleased to be involved in a project that will help contribute to Oman’s economy and enhance the region’s attraction as a popular tourist destination.

“This is our first contract with Saraya Bandar Jissah and we are proud to be selected as the main contractor to deliver what will be a flagship hotel in the region.,” he said.  

The resort hotel features 206 rooms and quality facilities and services such as a beachfront ballroom for weddings and events, spa, sports activities including a dive centre, and specialty restaurants offering various international cuisines.-TradeArabia News Service
