Dubai construction material prices steady

The prices of individual construction materials in Dubai, UAE, remained more or less steady during the second quarter of 2014 compared to the same period last year, said a report.

In the cement category, the prices of ordinary Portland cement dropped by 2.96 per cent year-on-year, while those of white cement were up by 0.21 per cent and lime by 1.35 per cent, reported the Gulf News, citing a recent Dubai Statistic Centre (DSC) report.

Chloride-resistant cement prices were stable compared to the second quarter of last year, while gypsum fell by 2.14 per cent year-on-year, it stated.

The prices of bricks too witnessed a sharp rise while the chloride-resistant precast concrete rates grew by 2.76 per cent and those of ordinary Portland precast concrete rose 2.44 per cent.

Prices of iron were down in the second quarter of the year, said the report.
