IPark to launch new parking system in the UAE

DUBAI, September 15, 2014

Oman-based IPark has partnered with Simmatec Korea, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automation parking system, to launch its new parking system in the UAE.

The automated multilayer parking system is a new-age technology that enables automated parking and retrieving of cars using a complex computerised system that controls the movements of pallets, lifts and carriers.

From the moment a motorist leaves the car at the entrance of the multilayer parking system, the system automatically takes care of choosing the parking area and transports the vehicle horizontally or vertically to the designated slot. The same procedures are applied for retrieval, said the company in a statement.

Pioneers in automated multilayer parking system in the Middle East, IPark said it has been getting good response for its new parking solutions in the emirates.

The Omani firm is offering a bouquet of five solutions – Stacker, Puzzle, Rotary, Tower and Cart Type Systems – for cars. All the five solutions have been designed and tested for both small and large applications ranging from villas to large commercial areas.

“In the UAE we have received very good response from builders and developers in the UAE, who are keen on finding ways to improve their systems,” remarked Shabbir Boriywala, the chairman of IPark.

The company also sees good prospects for its systems in the UAE in some locations where there is no parking available or in highly-populated business areas.

According to Boriywala, the new system is expected to ease parking woes of motorists in the UAE as it can accommodate 25 times the number of cars that can currently be parked by having a multiple stacking matrix.

"This apart, due to the automated procedure of parking and retrieval of cars, the turnaround time will be reduced to few seconds leaving for more productive time and peace of mind for motorists," stated Thasleem Khan, the CEO and partner.

With the new system, the building owner can choose any façade and does not need to make provision for ventilation for people at the parking levels. Also the building can have any design or shape unlike the conventional parking buildings.

The multilayer parking system is widely used in the US, China, Australia and Europe. In the Middle East, where rapidly developing urban areas are struggling to deal with the huge increase in the number of vehicles, this technology could provide relief from day-to-day parking frustrations.

"The conventional parking system was useful when there was more land available but as real estate becomes more scarce, the fundamental thing that can help is to use the same space to accommodate more cars and that can be done with our system," explained Boriywala.

“In a conventional multi-storey car-park building, more than 30 per cent of the space gets wasted in the form of driveways, staircases, lift shafts and also the space required in between two cars for opening doors. By using our system, one immediately gets 30 per cent more parking space,” he added.

Khan said it has many more advantages including an increase in capacity without acquiring more land and cost-effective construction as the time taken to buil an automated car-park is half of what is required for a conventional car park building.

"Since the system is fully automated, there is no scope for human error. It is also motorist-friendly secure parking requiring low maintenance and offering environmental benefits such as a reduction of noise, exhaust and other pollutants," he added.

Currently, IPark is in the process of educating people on the advantages of this system.-TradeArabia News Service
