Al Marjan ... ambitious expansion plans.

Marjan says Hilton resort expansion work on track

RAS AL KHAIMAH, November 23, 2014

Al Marjan Island (AMI) Company said the work on the expansion of DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, into a 701-resort is progressing well.

The underground construction, including excavations and earthworks, and basement and substructure has been completed, following the purchase of an additional 253,577 sq ft of land to execute an ambitious plan to expand the hotel by 44 per cent.

The expansion is more than 20 per cent complete, according to a joint statement by AMI and DoubleTree by Hilton Resort and Spa Marjan Island.

The top hotel brand said the expansion was in response to the growing interest in AMI as an idyllic vacation destination among residents as well as regional and international tourists.

Abdullah Rashed Al Abdooli, the managing director, said: "It is a matter of pride that DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island is undergoing this significant expansion at AMI before completing its first year of operation. This reflects the resort’s vote of confidence which highly motivates us to continue to offer an ideal investment ambience to our business partners and tenants."

The hotel’s decision to expand by 44 per cent within the first year of operation demonstrates the high return on investment (ROI) earned by hotel operators based in AMI and strengthens its position as a leading tourism investment destination.

With this new expansion, the hotel will add 216 rooms to the current capacity of 485 rooms.

With spectacular views of the Arabian Gulf, DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island will features a mix of guest rooms and suites, sea-view rooms and villas, all with access to the resort’s private 650-m beach.

“DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Marjan Island is the newest addition to the Hilton portfolio in Ras Al Khaimah, located on the trunk of AMI. The new rooms will offer prime waterfront views. The tourism potential has drawn global attention, and several investors across major service sectors want to be early birds in the AMI stake,” stated Al Abdooli.

Extending 4.5 km into the sea, AMI is the first man-made island in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah covering an area of 2.7 million sq m, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
