Terna JV wins $335m Qatar road deal

DOHA, September 13, 2015

Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has awarded a €300-million ($335 million) contract to a joint venture led by Greek contractor Terna for the reconstruction of a 40-km-long stretch in Doha industrial area.

As per the deal, the Greek company along with its partners - Gulf Consolidated Contractors and Wade Adams Contracting - will complete the project in three years.

Doha Industrial Area Package Two project involves reconstruction of urban roadwork in an industrial area spread over 412 hectares, setting up new sewerage network, new substations, as well as smart networks for the management of circulation and telecommunications.

As per the contract, Terna will be responsible for the maintenance of the project for 400 days following its completion.

The award win is a major boost for Terna, which already has several other projects in the broader Middle East region (Qatar, UAE, Bahrain and Iraq). This will add to GEK Terna Group’s construction backlog which currently stands at €3 billion ($3.35 billion).-TradeArabia News Service
