WorleyParsons wins Egypt refinery EPC deal

WorleyParsons, a leading provider of engineering, procurement and construction services, has been awarded a major contract by NOC Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) for work on its refinery in Assiut governorate.

The contract was awarded by Assiut Oil Refining Company, a subsidiary of (EGPC).
 
The refinery project will run in two phases over the next four years. The first phase will cover the development of the EPC tender package and review and evaluation of the bids while second phase will involve management and supervision of the EPC contractors during the design and procurement stages and on site in Assiut during the construction stage.

On the project win, Krish Iyer, the location director for UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Iraq, said: "We are delighted that ASORC has selected us to work on this project which will help support Egypt’s demands for petroleum products."

"We look forward to its successful delivery and completion," he added.

The Assiut refinery was established in 1984 to meet the Upper Egypt region’s needs for petroleum products. The new project will result in the building of  a new Naphtha complex (Naphtha Hydrotreater Unit (NHT), a CCR Reforming unit and an Isomerization Unit] that will provide high octane gasoline and different grades of gasoline.

The plant provides a major share of  neighboring provinces’ demand for petroleum products and derivatives.-TradeArabia News Service
