ENGINEERING STUDIES, FEED WORK

Amec Foster Wheeler wins BP Iraq project contract

BAGHDAD, June 20, 2016

Amec Foster Wheeler, a leading engineering and project management company, has been awarded a three-year framework agreement by BP Iraq to complete conceptual studies and pre-front end engineering design (Feed) work at its Rumaila oil field in Iraq.

As per the deal, Amec Foster Wheeler will help support the company's plans to sustain and boost production at the giant oil field located in the southern region of the country.

Rumaila, one of the world's largest oil fields, began production in 1954.

Average daily production in 2014 was 1.34 million barrels per day (bpd), part of a trend that has seen daily production rise from around 950,000 bpd in 2010 when BP began work, said a statement from the company.

Now the largest producing field in Iraq, Rumaila delivers more than a third of the country’s oil, it added.

The scope of work includes carrying out engineering studies for facilities and infrastructure that are crucial for the Rumaila field to sustain and increase production, said a top official.

"We undertook a number of studies on the Rumaila field back in 2010 and this latest framework agreement recognises our conceptual and pre-Feed expertise and continues our strong relationship with BP and our track record in Iraq," remarked Roberto Penno, Amec Foster Wheeler’s group president (Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Southern Europe).

"We are looking forward to supporting BP in realising its objectives for the Rumaila field," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
