ADFD sees $1.3bn Morocco development projects on track

ABU DHABI, April 26, 2017

Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) said the majority of its development projects worth Dh4.6 billion ($1.25 billion) in Morocco are in their final stages of completion.

The ADFD-funded projects Al Muhammadiyah Port and the Casablanca Port are about 95 and 82 per cent complete, respectively, reported state news agency Wam, citing senior officials who were part of the Emirati group's visiting delegation.

The team was in Morocco recently to inspect progress of projects funded by the Abu Dhabi government institution to drive development in the country's key sectors.

Work on the country's ambitious high-speed train project, for which the Emirati group has provided $140 million fund, is progressing at a steady pace with 75 per cent of the project ready, said the officials.

It is expected to be launched this December, they added.

The major projects include Casablanca Port, Kharroub Dam, Al Muhammadiyah, a college in Tangier, a high-speed train, infrastructure projects in Asilah city and a university hospital, said the Wam report.

One of ADFD's key developments, the 916-bed state-of-the-art multi-speciality hospital is 75 per cent complete and is expected to open by the end of this year, it added.
