Over 900 buildings come up in Abu Dhabi in Q2

ABU DHABI, September 9, 2017

The number of constructed buildings in Abu Dhabi reached 913 during the second quarter of 2017 compared to 751 buildings during the same period of 2016, thus registering a growth rate of 21.6 per cent, said a report.

Construction experts have stated that the increasing pace of construction in Abu Dhabi reflects its ongoing urban renaissance during the two last decades, along with the growth rate of its population and its overall comprehensive development, stated Emirati news agency Wam, citing data from the Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi region topped the list for  most number of constructed buildings in the whole of UAE, with 470 buildings being constructed by the end of the second quarter compared to 398 during the same period in 2016, a growth rate of 18.1 per cent, stated the Wam report.

The residential buildings constituted 85.5 per cent of the total completed buildings during the second quarter, totalling 781 buildings, while 38 public facilities buildings and 37 industrial buildings were also built during the period, the report said.

A total of 31 residential buildings and 26 buildings were classified as both residential and commercial, it stated.

The number of constructed buildings in the Al Ain region grew 23 per cent to hit 395 during the second quarter, while in Al Dhafra region, the number of constructed buildings soared to 48 compared to 32 buildings last year, said the report.

Mohamed bin Zayed City clinched the top spot for the maximum number of newly constructed buildings with a 22 per cent growth during the second quarter, followed by Al Shamkha with 13 per cent, Khalifa City with 12.8 per cent, Bani Yas with 9.4 per cent, and 42 per cent for the rest of the region’s areas, it added.
