New residential city to come up on Dubai-Al Ain road

DUBAI, October 5, 2017

Dubai Municipality has allocated around 763 hectares of land at Umm Nahd area located on the Dubai-Al Ain road for developing a new residential city with key amenities for citizens in the area, said a report.

The civic body has already completed all necessary procedures in this regard, said the state news agency Wam.

The project, which will come up on a sprawling 7.6 million sq m, is aimed at providing a healthy and decent lifestyle for the residents and will have dedicated tracks for bicycles and pedestrians, in addition to football grounds.

Dubai Municipality's move comes following the directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the government's keenness on the well-being of its citizens and providing all the requirements of a decent life and adequate housing for the citizens and their families, stated the Wam report citing a senior official.

"This will positively reflect on their social and economic stability and enhance their contribution in building the nation," remarked Hussain Nasser Lootah, the director-general of Dubai Municipality.

The announcement coincides with World Population Day, which is being celebrated this year by the United Nations under the theme, "Family Planning: Empowering People, Developing Nations", to raise awareness on population issues, including their relations with the environment and development.
