Top speakers for businesswomen's conference

Muscat, February 6, 2008

The upcoming 'Women in Business Conference' in Muscat is getting a lot of attention from women across Oman thanks to a stellar line-up of international guest speakers at the event including a Bahraini businesswoman Huda Janahi.

The only symposium of its kind in Oman, the “2008 Women in Business Conference” will be held at the InterContinental Muscat from March 15 to 16.

The conference aims to inspire and motivate young women and professionals to excel in both their chosen careers and personal development, the organisers said.

Huda Janahi is managing director of Global Cargo Services and had recently received a handful of awards, including the prestigious Mena – OECD investor of the year award.

'She will be bringing her experience running a successful business and managing business assets worth around $2 million to the conference,' the organisers said.

Besides Janahi, the speakers’ list includes Dawn Gibbins, Diane Girard, and Concetta Lanciaux - each a shining example of enterprising Women in today’s competitive business world.

According to organisers, each speaker will add their own unique element to the conference’s agenda.

Dawn Gibbins is the founder, chairman, HR and marketing director of Flowcrete. In 2003, Dawn was awarded the much coveted “Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award” and has 37 years of experience transforming a simple business idea into a thriving multi-million pound enterprise.

Starting at the tender age of 23, Dawn brings a lifetime of experience and flamboyance to the '2008 Women in Business Conference.'

Diane Girard, president and founder of Global links network has over 20 years of success in the international marketplace, managing projects in over 25 countries. Girard’s expertise extends to Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America and the United States, and she will share her global experience in government, education and Omani private sectors.

Concetta Lanciaux, group executive vice president of Synergies, has played an active role in the development of LVMH, an Italian-based company that owns international fashion houses such as Fendi, Rossi Moda and Pucci.

In 2001 Concetta was voted one of the “30 Most Influential Businesswomen in Europe”, ranking 6th by the Wall Street Journal Europe, the organisers said.

The conference will recognise and promote the professional practices of women in business, and participants will enjoy world class seminars and workshops within a nurturing and positive environment, they added.-TradeArabia News Service
