EDB steps up bid to boost UK trade links

Manama, October 11, 2011

Following its successful promotional US tour last week, the Economic Development Board (EDB) will lead an extensive road show to the UK in co-operation with Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry and participants from the private sector.

The road show, until Friday, will cover London, Birmingham and Manchester.

The delegation will hold meetings with domestic officials and corporate representatives from selected sectors in each city, with the objective of reinforcing bilateral economic and commercial links between the two countries, establishing joint businesses and creating job opportunities for Bahrainis.

The tour will focus on specific sectors that include professional services, technology, ICT, general manufacturing, automotive, plastic, chemicals and aluminium.

More than 88 British firms operate from Bahrain in the fields of banking, oil, insurance, investments and others. The Bahrain British Business Council was launched in 2007.

Its aims include facilitating trade and investment flows by which British businesses can maintain and develop market access to Bahrain, and providing British and Bahraini companies with market intelligence, business information and advice on legal and financial regulations when pursuing bilateral trade.-TradeArabia News Service
