Schools back 'litter-free' drive

Manama, April 15, 2009

Coinciding with the launch of 'Love Bahrain…Litter Free', a national awareness campaign launched recently in Bahrain, four schools undertook a clean up day within their premises and immediate surrounding areas.

Arad Elementary School for Boys along with Al Hidd Elementary Boys School, Mohammed Bin Isa Elementary Boys School and Al Khawarizmy Elementary Boy School from the First Educational Area, took part in the event.

Students began the clean up after a short safety briefing presented by Muharraq Municipality representative, covering wide areas of the play ground, other premises, including corridors within the school and the surrounding area.

A surprise visitor for the students was Bahrain’s Football legend, captain Humood Sultan, who had been invited to the event to distribute certificates of appreciation and other gifts to those who worked hard at this event.

'Love Bahrain…Litter Free' campaign was launched in mid-February 2009 and aims to encourage citizens to adopt healthy and civilised practices pertaining to waste management.-TradeArabia News Service
