Key Bahrain expo to offer thousands of jobs

Manama, January 18, 2010

A key exhibition offering thousands of jobs in the public and private sectors will be opened today (January 18).

Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) chairperson, will patronise the opening ceremony.

The SCW is co-ordinating the three-day event with the Labour Ministry and the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority.

Seventy-two companies and enterprises are taking part, offering 2,063 jobs for unemployed Bahraini women. Twelve training institutes will also present programmes tailored to meet the needs of women job seekers.

The Labour Ministry has also managed to compile 116 job opportunities for people with special needs.

The Social Development Ministry, Tamkeen, Supreme Vocational Training Council and Bahrain Training Institute are also participating.

The exhibition is the brainchild of Princess Sabeeka to survey the number of unemployed Bahraini women. It also aims at gauging the reasons underlying their joblessness and preventing their integration in the labour market.-TradeArabia News Service
