Rania Rostom... roadmap to unlock Menat HR potential

GE to present roadmap on workforce potential in Menat

DUBAI, October 16, 2014

GE is set to outline a roadmap which will redefine economies of scale, create new jobs for youth, reshape supply chains, promote SMEs and accelerate the pace of innovation in the Mena and Turkey (Menat) region.

“Mapping the Future of Work in Menat”, co-authored by Rania Rostom, chief innovation officer of GE Menat and Marco Annunziata, GE’s chief economist, spotlights the enormous opportunities of the region to leverage the power of innovation through three fundamental forces: the Industrial Internet; Advances Manufacturing; and the Global Brain.

These three elements aim to contribute to a technological transformation that GE calls ‘The Future of Work.’

Rostom will address regional workforce experts to outline the roadmap at the HR Summit & Expo, taking place at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from October 20 to 22.

“At GE, we believe this is an especially important area of focus for the Menat region,” said Rostom ahead of her presentation on October 22.

“The demographics of the region, where more than 50 per cent of the population is under the age of 25, mean that the work we do and the way we do it must go through a shift to ensure sustainable and equitable high growth.

“Central to this outlook is the speed with which we can embrace technology and the ability to foster collaborations to accelerate innovation.  By working together and setting in place an innovation-led co-creation model, The Future of Work provides tools and solutions that individual workers, companies and governments can use to increase local innovation, spur entrepreneurship, improve productivity and expand opportunities,” she added.

Ramy Bayyour, show director of the HR Summit & Expo, said: “This is an opportunity for HR professionals in the region to hear first-hand from a thought leader whose work will have a tangible impact on the future workforce.  We believe that Rania’s talk at the Summit will influence not only HR professionals but the way in which we recruit and retain talent in years to come.”

The 11th edition of the HR Summit & Expo will feature more than 60 free-to-attend seminars and six of the world’s best-in-class thinkers and inspirational speakers.

The line-up of business gurus include three of the most respected international HR and leadership experts: Marshal Goldsmith, the world’s number one leadership thinker; Dave Ulrich, the most influential person in the HR globally; and Liz Wiseman, author of the Wall Street Journal bestseller ‘Multipliers: how the best leaders make everyone smarter’.

New this year are three inspirational speakers from the world of sport: former Olympic swimmer and world champion Mark Foster; Danish football coach and best-selling author Rasmus Ankersen; and silver medal winning British Paralympic triathlon champion Karen Darke who will highlight their own personal journeys and triumphs to the region’s HR business community. – TradeArabia News Service
