Unasco event honours leading business women in Mena

DUBAI, September 17, 2015

Unasco (Union National Air, Land and Sea Shipping Co), a UAE-based national company, has sponsored a gala dinner in honour and celebrated the achievement of inspiring motivating and leading women who have excelled in their respective fields and set an example to a generation of women in the UAE and the Middle East.
 
The night of glitz and glamour was held at Main Ballroom, Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai, Al Falak Ballroom in the presence of business professionals, First Ladies, foreign delegates and dignitaries from across the Mena region, Europe and the Far East, said the statement.
 
The programme commenced with a welcome speech by Unasco chief executive officer Nadia Abdul Aziz and followed by a speech by the Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport Global President (CILT) Paul Brooks, it said.
 
He commented on how women in logistics, transport, aviation and  other sectors are part of CILT initiatives globally. 
 
The award categories were 'Women Supporting the Cause of Women Empowerment', 'Women’ Contribution to CSR and Charity' and 'Women High Achievers and Pioneers' in the UAE and Middle East. 
 
More than twenty professionals were awarded for their contribution and achievements. 
 
As main sponsors of the event, Unasco, which is one of UAE’s oldest and leading logistic and marketing companies, extended full support to UAE national companies and rendered special rates for SMEs and women’s businesses as part of their CSR strategy and work with community.
 
The Honorary Gala Dinner was organized in the sideline of the Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport (CILT)’s Global Annual Conference, said the statement.
 
This was not only a valuable venue for networking and business opportunities; but also a platform for creating and implementing important strategic decisions in the emirate and also across the UAE. 
 
CILT has a CSR division called ‘Aspire’ which helps and sponsors less privileged people to get a complete education in Supply chain and logistics.
 
Aziz, who is also the chairwoman of WILAT-ME, said: “Our goal at Unasco is to foster CSR as one of our corporate culture pillars. My emphasis, in every association or company I represent, is on giving back to the community. 
 
"Through this initiative we want to have long term relationship with females from across the globe and showcase the outstanding potential of UAE female professionals to our foreign delegates and build effective  relations that last and are positive."
 
Unasco also invited Women in Logistics and Transport groups international members (WILAT) and regional WILAT members to attend this event. 
 
The board members of WILAT-ME and the Global WILAT are all volunteers and all work on training, networking events, workshops, leadership programmes, coaching, all this is  for women advancement and positive empowerment.
 
Among other eminent guests were head of DP World ladies, media entrepreneurs, Dubai Customs, female international aviation and transport ministers, president of business women councils, the first female UAE film producer, CSR entrepreneurs and doctors and most powerful Middle East top 100 females. - TradeArabia News Service
