Anti-aging congress expects 1,000 experts

Dubai, April 23, 2009

More than 1,000 global experts are expected to review the latest developments and trends in anti-aging medicine at the second Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging & Aesthetic Medicine (DCAAAM).

The event is scheduled to be held on November 8 and 9 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

Supported by the Ministry of Health, this year’s conference is driven by the advancements made in reversing the natural process of aging and features an innovative medical programme that aims to inform and educate through presentations, workshops and hands-on demonstrations.

The UAE healthcare sector is among the most dynamic areas of the economy and is set to grow by 14 per cent over the next five years.

Currently accounting for 6 per cent of Dubai’s non-oil gross domestic product, it is expected to reach $11.9 billion in 2015.

Dr Robert Goldman, chairman of the World Anti-Aging Academy of Medicine, will head the summit, and Dr Max Sawaf, CEO Cosmesurge Middle East, Dr Maria Khattar, managing director Aesthetica Dubai and Dr Luiz Toledo, cosmetic surgeon from the Middle East will join him.

Joining them will be internationally renowned stem cell expert Dr Susan Lim from Singapore; specialist in nutritional medicine Claus Muss from Germany; anti-aging expert Dr Bill Anton from Australia and recognised speaker on aesthetic procedures Martin Kassir from the USA.

The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine has a membership of more than 20,000 physicians and scientists from 90 countries and has pioneered the establishment of anti-aging medicine as a recognised medical speciality.

“As the first anti-aging centre in the Middle East, we at Cosmesurge have seen the industry grow and mature,” said Dr Sawaf.

“The success of DCAAAM 2008 and the interest in this year’s event, endorses the Middle East’s presence globally,” he added.

Dr Maria Khattar added: “Last year established anti-aging as an integral part of the healthcare sector in the region. This year I’m looking forward to hearing about the new research and updated technologies available to practitioners.”

Anti-aging medicine applies advanced scientific and medical technologies for the early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related dysfunction, disorders and diseases.

These include: cosmetic, laser and plastic surgery; aesthetic procedures; bio-identical hormone replacement therapy; medical weight loss and nutrition; mesotherapy and facial rejuvenation and stem cell therapies. – TradeArabia News Service
