Over 1,000 experts for heart heath forum

Dubai, April 8, 2010

More than 1,000 medical professionals are expected to attend a leading forum on cardiovascular health care, said the main sponsor of the Gulf Heart Association (GHA), Servier-Gulf, a France-based pharmaceutical company.

The eighth GHA Annual Cardiovascular Conference opened today (April 8) at the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel to run up to April 10.

The three-day gathering, which will also include 450 specialists in cardiology, will debate the latest technology and practice dedicated to improving cardiac treatment in the region.

“The first GHA conference took place in Doha in 2002 and since then it has visited different Gulf countries each year,” said Dr Hajjar AlBinali, president of the GHA.

“We are excited to welcome the conference back to Doha and looking forward to hearing a wide range of perspectives on some of the most important issues facing health care providers in the region.”

Dr Jacques Servier, founder of Les Laboratoires Servier said: “Trust is the cement of our partnerships and it is based not simply on loyalty but also on long-term commitment.”

The highlight of this year’s conference will be the Arab Cardiology Forum, which will invite heads of cardiology societies across the Arab world to share insights and new thinking relating to the current and future state of heart health in the region.

In addition to the presentation of industry papers, there will be workshops on cardiac physiology, electrocardiography (EKG), echocardiography, robotic cardiac surgery, and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).

There will also be specialized workshops for cardiology/cardiac surgery nurses and extensive sessions on advances in diagnosis and the treatment of adult and pediatric cardiac patients. – TradeArabia News Service
