Health clinic on causeway focus of talks

Manama, June 27, 2012

More than 18 million passengers travel on the King Fahad Causeway every year, prompting talks of a new health clinic on the Bahraini side of the border.

An average of 50,000 people a day travel across the bridge between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, according to latest figures.

This works out at a daily average of 23,000 vehicles, since not everyone travels alone. The figures also show that 5,000 people work on the causeway over three shifts.

The figures and health centre proposal were discussed yesterday by Health Minister Sadiq Al Shehabi and King Fahad Causeway Authority director-general Badr bin Abdulla Al Otaishan.

Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Aisha Mubarak Bunuq, Assistant Under-Secretary for Hospitals Dr Amin Al Saati and causeway public relations director Jamal bin Mohammed Al Yaqoot were among those who took part. – TradeArabia News Service
