New ambulances inaugurated at Abu Dhabi Police

Abu Dhabi, June 22, 2014

A set of new ambulance vehicles recently added to the ambulance fleet at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters has been inaugurated.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, reviewed the specifications and services of the vehicles that offer intensive care and advanced life support for pregnant women, premature infants and newborns, and heavyweight patients, said a statement.

He called for developing and providing the best ambulance services, rapid response medical treatment to patients’ emergencies and to provide basic life support (BLF) during the difficult moments before reaching the hospital.

Major General Dr Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, director general of Central Operations, stressed the police leadership’s keenness to serve the community and to overcome all obstacles facing society segments in need of ambulance services in Abu Dhabi, to meet the needs of the public and minimise response times in order to save lives.

The project is aimed at providing the best ambulance services and facilitating access to necessary and comprehensive medical care to patients, he said.

The new ambulance vehicles are fitted with pre-hospital devices and offer facilities of a fully equipped  mobile clinic with an intensive care unit, to provide the best pre-hospital healthcare to patients pending their arrival in the hospital.

They contain the same equipment used on other vehicles, in addition to technical specifications that take into account cases of patients that require special treatment and care, said the statement.

The vehicles are characterised by the highest levels of safety, security and quality, so as to facilitate the work of paramedics and medical personnel in handling emergency situations.

“The Maternity and Childhood ambulance is specifically equipped to cater to pregnant women, premature infants and newborns. It contains a special bed and a transport infant incubator to tend to mothers and babies. It may be identified thanks to its pink-coloured stripes,” Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, director of the Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Abu Dhabi Police.

The heavyweight ambulance with red stripes is fitted with a hydraulic lift and advanced devices to cater to heavyweight persons, whose weight impedes their movement and makes their transfer to hospitals difficult, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
